Automotive Manufacturing Earth Retention Structure

A local automotive manufacturing facility was gearing up for a major upgrade to its assembly line to transition to electric vehicle production. This project had to be completed within a tight timeframe, coinciding with the facility’s brief manufacturing shut-down window. The contractor faced the task of designing and procuring all necessary materials in just a few weeks.

Our team rose to the challenge with a swift and effective solution. We crafted a design that could be quickly sourced from local suppliers, ensuring no time was lost in the procurement process.

The innovative system featured permanent steel soldier piles, forming the backbone of the retention structure. Steel sheet piles were driven in front of these soldier piles, serving as lagging, while deadman anchors were strategically installed to secure the wall and stabilize adjacent column footers during the excavation for the pit expansion. Despite the tight access conditions within the manufacturing facility, the design allowed the contractor to successfully install the earth retention structure, meeting the project’s rigorous demands with precision and efficiency.
